Coffee and a Smile

What brings us together

For the duration of my life, my parents have been working closely with Mustard Seed Communities (MSC), an international nonprofit dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable populations here in Jamaica and throughout the developing world. The importance of community involvement and actively being a part of solutions for betterment was engrained since youth and is therefore fundamental to Origin as a company. I am privileged and honored to continue the tradition; contributing 1% of sales revenue.

The mission statement at Origin is inspired by the healing and caring ministry of Jesus Christ. Through the positive interaction of caring, sharing, and training, we aim to uplift the most vulnerable members of society, especially disabled and abandoned children and marginalized communities.

We are committed to fostering homes and communities, which will bring us joy, hope, and dignity. We work with Food For The Poor in Jamaica, handing out food and toys during the holidays to the poor living in the underfunded areas of Jamaica.

A percentage of all our sales are contributed towards Mustard Seed Communities (MSC) is an international non-profit dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable populations throughout the developing world. It has been providing loving and lifelong care to over 600 children, adults, and young mothers in crisis across Jamaica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.

Mustard Seed Communities (MSC) MSC began in 1978 as a home for a handful of children with disabilities who had been abandoned to the streets of Jamaica. Today, MSC provides loving and lifelong care to over 600 children and adults with disabilities, children affected by HIV, and young mothers in crisis across Jamaica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. MSC manages sustainable agriculture initiatives and provides education, nutrition, and skills training programs in order to improve the economic, social, and spiritual conditions within marginalized communities.

Coffee Plantation
Our Work Environment

At Origin, we believe in ethical pay and just treatment of our farmers and employees. We have a high employee retention and satisfaction rate because we think of our employees as part of our naturalist family. We treat farmers ethically, paying them upfront and not with the extended payment terms some of the bigger companies enforce on them. They are paid on time, so that they are able to sustain themselves and their families.

Our Trading Values

Origin believes in transparent trade, which is the cornerstone of long-term sustainability. The improved social and environmental standards can only be motivated and maintained through commercial success for all participants in the supply chain. Each link in the supply chain is complex, requiring a different resource and skill-set. We at Origin source coffee via transparent trading relationships throughout selected certified Blue Mountain farmers.

Transparent Communication Policies

We believe in success by constructing trade platforms that allow for collaborative interaction between farmers, financiers, and customers. By fostering open communication and creating competitive access to resources, we acknowledge real costs and reduce risk. By changing the structure and behavior in coffee supply chains, we create the opportunity to improve the lives of small-holder farmers, their families, and our country.
